Red FM Senior Hurling League

Thur. June 27th

Blackrock 3 – 18 V Na Piarsaigh 0 – 15.

Report:  Roger Ryan

Fionn Coleman opened the scoring for us with a point and Na Piarsaigh with 3 unanswered points pushed ahead by 2. But their lead was short-lived as our boys really turned on the style and scores began to accumulate. Fionn added 2 points to level the scores, before Ciarán Cormack, David O Farrell and Fionn with a point each, put us ahead by 3, 0 – 06 to 0 – 03. Na Piarsaigh's next point was quickly followed by a goal from busy beaver Fionn Coleman, operating at full forward. Fionn then scored a point at either side of Na Piarsaigh's score to leave it at 1 – 07 to 0 – 05. Fionn again traded point's with Na Piarsaigh before getting through for his second goal. Cathal Cormack then got in on the act with a point and when the Ref blew for half time the score stood at a healthy 2 – 09 to 0 – 06 in favour of the Rockies.

Following the introduction of Joe Golden, David O'Farrell got us off to a good start in the second half with a point, but the game was well and truly sealed shortly afterwards when Fionn scored his hat-trick with a great goal. The score now read Rockies 3 – 10, Na Piarsaigh 0 – 06. Na Piarsaigh's next point was answered by a similar score from Fionn and Na Piarsaigh then added their eighth point. Eoin O Farrell, Lee O'Sullivan and Jamie Ryan then trotted out to join the fray. Tadhg Deasy's point was answered by a point from Na Piarsaigh and Diarmuid Cormack came on board. Niall Cashman scored his trademark long-range point and Luke O'Donovan joined his team mates. Shane O'Keeffe had a point and Sean Healy made an entrance. Eoin O'Farrell pointed a free and Na Piarsaigh came back with a point. Ryan Sweeney traded points with Na Piarsaigh to leave the score at 3 – 15 to 0 – 10. Na Piarsaigh added 2 points and Ryan Sweeney again traded points to push the score to 3 – 16 to 0 – 13. A Na Piarsaigh point was quickly followed by one from Tadhg and a point from a free for Na Piarsaigh brought the game to a close with the score at Rockies 3 – 18, Na Piarsaigh 0 – 15. At this stage we were on top of the League table but Charleville and Sars had a game in hand which they won at the weekend, thus relegating us to third place. They will now contest the final.
