Blackrock 3 – 17 V Newcestown 0 – 21 @ Coachford.​

Our Senior Hurlers withstood a strong challenge from Newcestown to emerge victorious by 5 points on a score of Rockies 3 – 17, Newcestown 0 – 21, at Coachford on Sunday evening. Newly promoted Newcestown were well up for the game and playing with the wind in the first they replied to our first point by Fionn Coleman with 3 points on the trot to lead by 2 points. Alan Connolly traded points to leave the score at 0 – 02 to 0 – 04. Peter Linehan and Fionn Coleman then levelled the score with 1 points each. A long clearance by Alan Connolly reached Fionn Coleman who passed to Alan Connolly who scored our first goal on 13 minutes to put us ahead by 3 points. Robbie Cotter increased our lead with a point before Newcestown struck back with 2 points to leave the score at 1 – 05 to 0 – 06. Alan Connolly pointed a free to put us 3 points ahead before Newcestown replied with 3 points on the trot to draw level. Niall Cashman scored a long range point to finish out the first half on a score of Rockies 1 – 07, Newcestown 0 – 09.


Alan O'Callaghan got the opening point of the second half, Newcestownreplied with a point, Kevin O'Keeffe exchangecd point's to leave us just 1 point ahead at 1 – 09 to 0 – 11. A goal bound strike by Robbie Cotter was then diverted to the corner of the net by Shane O'Keeffe to increase our lead to 4 points, 2 – 09 to 0 – 11. Newcestown then had a point but this was followed by 1 point from Peter Linehan, Niall Cashman and Alan Connolly to push us ahead by 6 points, 2 – 12 to 0 –12. Newcestown reduced our lead to 3 points with the next three scores but Robbie Cotter soon had our lead back to 6 points again with a great goal in  45th minute. A point by Newcestown was answered by 1 point each by Robbie and Alan to increase our lead to 7 points, 3 * 14 to 0 – 16. Newcestown added 2 points to their tally and Fionn Coleman brought our lead back to 6 points again with an angled point from near the sideline. Alan Connolly pushed us ahead by 7 again with a point. Newcestown then scored 3 points and Fionn Coleman closed out the game with a point to leave us ahead by 5 points on a final score of Rockies 3 -17, Newcestown 0 – 21.
