Blackrock 2 – 26 V Kanturk 3 – 12 @ Coachford.

Kanturk had 3 points on the board before we opened our account with a point from Fionn Coleman. Played in brilliant sunshine at Coachford, this game certainly proved to be a good workout for our boys. Gavin Connolly in goals was called on to make some great saves in the early stages as Kanturk were really up for it and full of running. However, once our boys recovered from the early onslaught they set about reeling in the Kanturk boys and when we went ahead after 15 minutes we never looked back, and held the lead for the entire game.

Kanturk did draw level at 0 – 07 each, before Robbie Cotter with 2, and Shane O'Keeffe with a point, put us 3 ahead, 0 – 10 to 0 – 07. Kanturk's next point was quickly answered by a similar score from David O'Farrell. Fionn Coleman had our first goal and Gavin scored a long range point from a free to put us ahead on double scores 1 – 13 to 0 – 08 at the break.

The scores came far more frequently in the second half and even though Kanturk did score 3 goals, our boys repeated their first half tally of 1 – 13 and finished the game with a handsome score of 2 – 26. Kanturk scored 3 – 04 in this half.
