Played in brilliant sunshine on a perfectly manicured pitch, our Senior Hurlers scored a well-merited win over League leaders Fr. O' Neill's at Church Road on Saturday afternoon.

The game opened at a lively pace and O'Neill's playing with the breeze edged ahead by 4 points after 15 minutes. We had this back to 3 at the 18th minute, 0 – 04 to 0 – 07, when Robbie Cotter carved the defence open and scored a majestic goal bringing us back to parity.

From there to the half time whistle it was nip and tuck all the way with the Rockies slightly ahead until the last puck when O'Neill's scored to level up again at 1 – 10 each.

Our scorers in this half were: Robbie Cotter 1 – 04(01f), Ryan Sweeney 0 – 04(02f), Peter Linehan 0 – 01, Niall Cashman 0 – 01.

Our boys really upped their performance in the second half and once they got in front they never looked back and limited Fr. O'Neill's to scoring mainly from frees. Our half-backline really took control, not only sweeping all before them but also contributing 6 points out of the 15 scored, Niall Cashman 4 and Tadhg Deasy 2. Robbie was also on song in the second half with 3 points and Fionn Coleman really blossomed with 3 great points. Ryan Sweeney, Lee O'Sullivan and Peter Linehan also got in the act with a point each. Ther final score of 1 – 25 to 1 – 18 was a true reflection of our superiority in the second half.
