Blackrock 3 – 18 V Fr.O'Neill's 1 – 19 @ Carrigtwohoill

Report:  Roger Ryan

Following their victory over O'Neill's on Sunday, our Senior Hurlers topped their group and will now play Kanturk in the Quarter-Final at Fermoy on Saturday Sept. 21st. @ 17.30.

Even though Fr.O'Neill's were well in the game, particularly when playing with the breeze in the first half, there was always a sense that we were not going to lose this one and push came to shove in the final quarter, our boys stepped up the pressure and closed out the game with some good scores.

Gavin Connolly was very dependable in goal and a timely interception by John Cashman at fullback prevented a certain goal. Our inside forwards struggled at times with the high balls coming in but their combined play and intricate passing movements proved very effective over the hour and resulted in some spectacular goals. A great passage of play between Peter linehan and Alan Connolly ended with a cracking goal by Fionn Coleman. A piledriver by Alan Connolly caused problems for the goalie and when he dropped the ball, Ciarán Cormack was alert enough to smash it to the net for our closing goal. Their average return of 3 goals per game has been very impressive in this year's championship.
