Fri. July 7th. Red FM Senior Hurling League (Div 1) Final  

Blackrock 1 – 15 V Sarsfields 2 – 20 @ @ Pairc Uí Rinn

Sarsfields proved to be far too strong for our boys in the final of the Red FM Senior Hurling League at Pairc Ui Rinn on Friday evening and ran out easy winners on a score of Rockies 1 – 15, Sars 2 – 20. An early start by Sars which yielded 1 – 03 proved to be the blow from which we never recovered and of course our tally of 18 wides over the hour, didn't help our cause either. We did manage to come within 4 points of them, 0 – 8 to 1 – 9, but Sars swooped again for a further goal and when the Ref blew for half time we were trailing by 7 points, 0 – 9 to 2 – 10. 

Things didn't improve a great deal in the second half and after 20 minutes we had only added 4 points in reply to Sars 6 points. Our goal by John Cashman gave us a glimmer of hope 1 – 13 to 2 – 16, but we only managed a further 2 points in reply to Sars 4 points, and so the game ended with the scoreboard reading Blackrock 1 – 15, Sarsfields 2 – 20.
