The Brilliant sun cast it's golden rays on the pristine sward of Church Road on Saturday afternoon as our Green & Gold clad warriors trooped out to do battle with the old foe, The Barrs. in the Red FM Senior Hurling League. In a very lively and evenly contested first half, our boys managed to keep ahead and were 4 points up 0- 10 to 0 – 06  with 5 minutes to go when The Barrs struck for a goal and 2 points to forge ahead by a point, 0 – 10 to 1 – 08. Their lead was shot-lived though as first Ryan Sweeney levelled with a point and Fionn Coleman scored a goal to push us ahead by 3 points 1 – 11 to 1 – 08 as Ref Colm Lyons blew for half-time. A nasty breeze blew from the East and even though we played against it in the first half, it certainly didn't hinder our performance. Our scorers in this half were: Peter Linehan 0 – 04, Fionn Coleman 1 – 00, Ryan Sweeney 0 – 03, Tadhg Deasy 0 – 02, Kevin O'Keeffe 0 – 02.

Turning to play with the wind in the second half, Ryan Sweeney with 2 points and and Tadhg Deasy with 1 point soon stretched our lead to 6 points, 1 – 14 to 1 – 08. Stephen Murphy, Cathal Cormac and Lee O'Sullivan were sprung from the bench early on and Ryan Sweeney added a point before Diarmuid Cormack, Ciarán Cormack and Ian O'Keeffe strode out to join the fray. They were joined by John O'Sullivan shortly afterwards. Following a period of stalemate when neither side raised a flag, our boys came back strongly and finished strongly. Diarmuid Cormac  with a point was followed by a similar score from Fionn Coleman. Elliot Cantwell and Tom Grainger were introduced at this stage as the selectors emptied the bench. Peter Linehan had a point and this was added to by a brilliant second goal from Fionn Coleman. Lee O'Sullivan and Fionn closed out the scoring with a point each to leave the final score at Rockies 2 – 20, Barrs 1 – 09.
