S.H.L. Rockies 1 - 26 V 2 – 15 Glen @ Church Road.
Report by Roger Ryan
Our Senior Hurlers followed up their recent win over Fr.O'Neills with a very impressive victory over Glen Rovers at Church Road on Friday evening. Played before a sizable
crowd on a perfect evening for hurling, the game turned out to be a real cracker with plenty of good hurling and lots of scores. The pitch was in pristine condition and looked resplendent in the evening sunshine.
Our boys were quickly out of the blocks and after 15 minutes had built up a handy lead of 7 points 1 – 08 to 0 – 04. The Glen began to get a foothold at this point and while we did not score for a 10 minute period we did manage to add a further 3 points to bring our half time tally to 1 – 11. The Glen also scored 1 – 11 to leave it all square at half time.
We certainly upped our scoring in the second half and points from Niall Cashman, Daniel Meaney and David O'Farrell soon had us ahead by 3 points, 1 – 14 to 1 – 11. Our lead was short lived though as Hoggy scored a goal for the Glen to bring them level again, but that was as good as it got for them as our boys continued to outscore them and finished with an impressive total of 1 – 26. The Glen finished with 2 – 15 giving us a victory of 8 points and 2 valuable League points.
