Our Senior Hurlers travelled to Carrigtywohill this morning for their first game in the Red FM League and came home with 2 points in the bag. This was a welcome start to the current season and complemented yesterday's fine win by our Intermediate team over Inniscarra. Our team included several of the players who had featured in the Inter. game on Saturday and found the going pretty tough in the first half as the local boys were well up for it and were ahead by 4 points to 2 after 10 minutes and matched us score for score for the remainder of the half. We did get in front shortly before the whistle and finished with 2 points ahead, Rockies 0 – 07 Catrrigtwohill 0 -05. Our scorers in this half were Robbie Cotter 0 – 03, Gavin Connolly 0 – 01, Fionn Coleman 0 – 01, John Cashman 0 – 01, Cathal Cormack 0 – 01.
Half time score: Rockies 0 – 07, Carrigtwohill 0 – 05.
Our second half performance was far more productive and we notched up 16 points. Carrigtwohill to their credit never gave up trying and added a further 13 points to their tally. Our mentors introduced 5 subs during the game namely Fionn Coleman, Darragh Browne, Ciarán Cormack, Luke O'Donovan, Ian O'Keeffe, and considering that it was our first game of the year, we did very well, and it's always good to win your first one.
