Blackrock 4 – 14 V 1 – 23 Na Piarsaigh @ Ballinlough.​

Following a high-scoring game, our Junior Hurlers finished with a flourish to earn a great draw against Na Piarsaigh at Ballinlough on Monday evening. Trailing by 5 points with 3 minutes extra time to be played, it looked all over over. But our boys were far from finished, and following a point, Tom Grainger made the wise decision to tap over a close in free to reduce the deficit to a single score --- a goal. Then in a welter of excitement, Paddy Lynch who had earlier been replaced because of a damaged finger, entered the fray again, grabbed the sliothar and slammed it into the back of the net for the equaliser to the delight of the Rockies camp.

On a beautiful evening for hurling, the opening period proved to be an even enough contest with points being traded before Na Piarsaigh scored their only goal on the 15th minute. They did get an opportunity of a second goal when they were awarded a penalty but but our goalie Paul O'Brien brought off a great save and prevented this.  This was the difference between us for quite a while until David Garvan entered the fray and cracked home a great goal to draw level at 1 – 08 each. The game also finished level at half time Rockies 1 – 11, Na Piarsaigh 1 – 11.

The second half started at a very fast pace with Na Piarsaigh racing into a 3 points lead. Peter Cotter clawed back a point and James Walsh rattled the net for our second goal to put us ahead by a point 2 – 12 to 1 – 14. Na Piarsaigh with the next 3 on the trot, took the lead again but James Walsh once again rattled the net for our third goal to restore our lead of  1 point, 3 – 12 to 1 – 17. Na Piarsaigh with the next 6 points took a handy lead of 5 points with the clock running down. The last few minutes ended in a welter of excitement with our boys laying siege on the Na Piarsaigh goal and securing the necessary scores for a well-earned draw.
