Following an outstanding display of courage and effort our Junior 2 Hurlers were pipped at the post in the final of the AOS League at Ballinlough on Tuesday evening. Ahead for most of the second half, a last minute goal by Ballinhassig put them ahead by 2 points and despite our best efforts to were unable to get the vital scores before the Ref blew full-time.

A torrential downpour just prior to the start failed to dampen their spirits of the players and both teams serve up an evenly, if low-scoring, first half which finished at 0 – 05 each.

Our scorers in this half were, James Allen 0 – 03, Brian Lynch 0 – 01, Cian Coughlan 0 – 01.

Jack O'Farrell got us off to an early start in the second half with a point and James Allen followed with 2 points. Peter Cotter then added a point to push us ahead by 4, 0 – 09 to 0 – 05.

Ballinhassig scored a point from a 65 which was quickly answered by a point from James Allen to retain our lead of 4 points. Ballinhassig then scored a goal to reduce our lead to the minimum but 2 points from James Allen had us 3 ahead again after about 20 minutes. A further point by Ballinhassig was answered by James Allen and the score now read Rockies 0 – 13, Ballinhassig 1 – 07. James Allen pushed our lead to 4 points, Ballinhassig reduced it to 3 and Luke Fogarty pushed us back up to 4 again with a point. Ballinhassig struck for their second goal to reduce our lead to a single point and our next point by James Allen was answered by a point from Ballinhassig to leave it at 0 – 15 to 2 – 08. A point from James Allen put us 2 ahead with time running out but then Ballinhassig scored a point followed by their third goal to run out winners by 2 points.
