Blackrock 5 – 15 V 0 – 06 Ballincollig @ Church Road.

Report By Roger Ryan:

Our Junior Hurlers amassed the huge score of 5 – 15 in a very impressive win over Ballincollig at Church Road on Monday evening.

Following a goal and a point opening scores by Michael O'Halloran, Ballincollig came more into the game and scored 3 points in reply but from thetre to half time they only managed a further 2 points whereas we tacked on 6 points to lead by double scores 1 – 07 to 0 – 05 at the break.

The second half was a different matter though as our boys steadied their shooting and began to chalk up the scores. Our total defence put the clampers on the Ballincollig forwards and limited them to a single point for the entire second half. Michael O'Halloran got us off to a great start with 3 points before Eoin Browne scored our first goal. Our third goal arrived when Michael O'Halloran laid off a perfect pass to Charlie Cummins who blasted to the net. The score now stood at 3 – 13 to 0 – 05. Pierce Coleman and Charlie Cummins also added a goal each to bring our tally of goals to 5. Our goalie Brian Ahern's long deliveries were pounced on by our eager forwards who really turned on the style and got some great scores. This was a very impressive team performance, aided and abetted by the introduction of several subs in the second half.
