Blackrock 3 – 22 V Crosshaven 0 – 11 @ Church Road

Report:  Roger Ryan

Our Junior Hurlers had a facile victory over Crosshaven in a special 13-a-side game at Church Road on Sunday evening, amassing the huge score of 3 – 22 to Crosshaven's 0 – 11.

Our boys were superior in all parts of the field and played with great spirit and teamwork.

Darragh Murphy's lengthy puck-outs were ideal fodder for our eager forwards, and he also scored a point from a long-range free. He was well protected throughout by a solid backline with Paddy Lynch a commanding figure at centre back and Rob Cregan making his usual forays up the field. Rob also helped himself to 2 points in the first half.

The half time score was Rockies 1 – 14, Crosshaven 0 – 05. Our other scorers in this half were, James Allen 1 – 06, Eoin Browne 0 – 02, Brian O'Leary 0 – 01, Barry Grainger 0 – 01, Kevin Morgan 0 – 01.

James Allen had our opening point in the second half and this was followed by 2 more from Barry Grainger. Brian O'Leary lobbed in a ball which we fully expected would clear the bar, but it dipped down and ended in the net for his usual goal. The selectors began to empty the bench at this point and the scores flowed freely for the remainder of the game James Allen Btrian O'Leary, Barry Grainger, Peter Cotter, Henry Donnelly (Goal), and Craig Cahill, all got in on the act, and contributed to the large scoreline.

Final Scorers were: James Allen 1 – 07(2f 65 ), Brian O'Leary 1 – 02, Barry Grainger 0 – 05, Henry Donnelly 1 – 00, Rob Cregan 0 – 02, Eoin Browne 0 – 02, Darraghj Murphy 0 – 01, Kevin Morgan 0 – 01, Peter Cotter 0 – 01, Craig Cahill 0 – 01.
