Blackrock 3 – 20 V 2 – 21 Mayfield @ Mayfield.

Our Junior Hurlers travelled to Mayfield on Monday evening and beat the home team on a score of Rockies 3 – 20 to Mayfield 2 – 21. Playing against the wind in the first half our boys surged ahead in the opening quarter and were ahead by 3 points 0 – 06 to 0 – 03 when Mayfield got through for a goal to draw level. We certainly had been doing well against the wind and with half time imminent Mayfield struck for their second goal to lead at 1 – 08 to 2 – 09.

Mayfield started well in the second half and at one point were 6 points up 1 – 11 to 2 – 14 but our boys showed great spirit and skill to battle back and tacked on 2 further goals plus 12 points to run out winners by 2 points on a final score of Rockies 3 – 20 to Mayfield 2 – 21.
