Rathpeacon 0-8 Blackrock 4-24 @ Kilcully

A nice mild evening with the breeze blowing across the field, led to quite a number of wides, yet despite that, the scoring in the first half was high, with Blackrock leading 2-14 to 0-4 at half time. An early goal by Paddy Lynch settled the Rockies, and not long after, Darren Griffen also scored a goal, which made it evident that Rathpeacon were in for a long evening.

On the resumption, Rathpeacon started strongly with two points, matched by points from Barry Grainger and James Allen. Then a Rathpeacon attack was smothered by the Rockies solid defence, which saw Scott O’Sullivan race up the field for over sixty metres, before passing to Barry Grainger for a marvellous goal. This finished the Rathpeacon fight back. Blackrock continued to dominate with further points and a great individual goal from Paddy Lynch. A feature of the game was the blocks by Scott O’Sullivan, at least seven by my count.
