In the quarter-final of the Craobh Rúa Cup played at Pairc Na Brian Diolunaigh on Wednesday evening the Brian Dillons 1st team proved far too strong for our Junior 3 team.

For the opening 20 minutes our boys more than held their own but once Brian Dillons scored their first goal to lead by 8 points 0 – 06 to 1 – 11, they pushed ahead for a second goal and built up a nice half time lead of 10 points 0 – 09 to 2 – 13. Our scorers in this half were, Jack O'Sullivan 0 – 05(03f), James Walsh 0 – 02, Denis Moran 0 – 01, Darren Griffin 0 – 01.

Playing with the aid of a slight wind in the second half, the home team started brightly and soon added 1 – 04 to their tally without reply. Darren Griffin lifted the siege somewhat when he got through for our goal but Brian Dillons continued their quest for goals and added 2 more to bring their goal tally to 5. We increased our score by a further 4 points to bring our final tally to 1 – 13.

Considering that this was our 5th team (J3), it was great to see such a large panel of players who turned up for the game. Full marks to all involved for organising these teams and keeping so many players involved. We are very fortunate to have such a large pool of talent at our disposal.
