Blackrock 2 – 10 V 4 – 15 Whites Cross. @ Church Road.

On sunny but bitterly cold Easter Sunday morning our Junior 1 team lined up against Whites Cross in a league game at Church Roads @ 11.00am. It was played on the main pitch which was in excellent condition, and it turned out to be a very lively game between two strong teams.

Jack O'Farrell got us up and running with the opening point which Whites Cross soon equalised. Eoin O'Farrell and Jack followed up with a point each to push us ahead by 2 points. A W/Cross point was followed up by a similar score from Eoin O'Farrell. W/Church's next point was soon followed by a goal to push them ahead by 2 points 0 – 04 to 1 – 03. This stung our boys into action and a point by Jack O'Farrell was followed by a goal from a lively Rowan Moran to give us a lead of 2 points 1 – 05 to 0 – 03. A W'Cross point was followed by a point from Eoin O'Farrell but W'Cross finished the half with 2 points to make the score all even at the short whistle---1 – 06 to 1 – 06.

Whitescross now playing with the breeze, opened strongly and added a goal and a point before Eoin O'Farrell deceived the backline by scoring a great goal from a free to leave the score at 2 – 06 to 2 – 07. A further 1 – 04 by W'Cross gave them a lead of 7 points. James Allen reduced this to 6 points with our next score by W'Cross struck back with a further 1 – 01 to push ahead by 10 points 2 – 08 to 4 – 12. Peter Cotter signalled his entry into the fray with a good point before W'Cross replied with 2 further points. James Allen and Brian Lynch had our final 2 points to which W'Cross replied with a further 3 points to bring the final score to Rockies 2 – 10, Whitescross 4 – 15.
