Playing with the aid of a strong breeze, Na Piarsaigh got off to a flying start in our Junior A Hurling Championship at Ballinlough on Sunday morning, and established an early lead which they never relinquished. A goal from the throw-in followed by two points from play put them 5 points ahead before Barry Grainger grabbed our first score – a point. Barry then exchanged further point's with Na Piarsaigh to leave the score at 0 – 2 to 1 – 3. At this early stage James Allen was injured and was replaced by Peter Leneghan. Nathan Adams with a point reduced the deficit to 3 points but Na Piarsaigh replied with a similar score to increase their lead again to 4 points. Nathan again reduced it to 3 points with the next score for us. Na Piarsaigh's next point was answered by Colin O'Leary to now leave the score at Rockies 0 – 5, Na Piarsaigh 1 – 5. Na Piarsaigh with 3 further points on the trot that pushed ahead by 6 points. Barry Grainger with a point reduced that to 5 points but a scrambled goal close to the end of play gave Na Piarsaigh a lead of 8 points as the team's trooped off for the break. 


Half-time Score: Rockies 0 – 7, Na Piarsaigh 2 – 8.


Na Piarsaigh nicreased that lead by a further point but Peter Leneghan scored a point for us to reduce it back to 8 points. Na Piarsaigh added 2 further points to push their lead to 10 points on a score of Rockies 0 – 7 , Na Piarsaigh 2 – 11. Colin O'Leary took over the free[taking duties and with 3 successful efforts reduced that lead to 7 points, 0 – 10 to 2 – 11. Na Piarsaigh added a point but Dean Mc Carthy replied with a point for us. Colin O'Leary was unerring again with frees and put over two for us to leave the score at a manageable level 0 – 13 to 2 – 12. Killian Barry then added a point for us to reduce their lead to 4 points and give us hope of salvaging something from the game. However, Na Piarsaigh struck for a late goal and added a point to secure victory on a final score of Rockies 0 – 14, Na Piarsaigh 3 – 13.
