Red FM Intermediate Hurling League
Sat. June 29th

Blackrock 2 – 17 V Bishopstown 0 – 15.

Report:  Roger ryan

On Sunday afternoon at Church Road, our Intermediate hurlers completed their league campaign with a well-merited, (if hard earned) victory over Bishopstown running out winners on a score of 2 – 17 to 0 – 16.

The opening quarter was an even and competitive game with both teams trading scores but once Tadhg Deasy soloed through for a goal things really swung our way and with half time imminent we had a comfortable lead of 7 points 1 – 12 to 0 – 08. However, in the final minute of the half, Bishopstown were awarded a penalty, scored a goal, and reduced our margin to 4 points, 1 – 12 to 1 – 08.

The lead was down to 2 points at times in the third quarter and Bishopstown then levelled at 1 – 15 each but Eoin Coughlan who had just been introduced as a sub, made matters a little bit safer with a great goal. Eoin then converted a free to push us 4 points ahead. Tadhg traded points with Bishopstown for the final scores to leave us winners by 4 points on a score of 2 – 17 to 1 – 16.
