Our Intermediate hurlers travelled (again) to Newcestown to play the local team in the Red FM Hurling League and lost out on a score of Rockies 2 – 14, Newcestown 2 – 19.
Our boys put in a great shift and were more than a match for the local boys, particularly in the first half which ended with us trailing by a single point 1 – 08 to 0 – 12. Midway through the second half we did manage to come close to them at 1 – 09 to 0 – 13 but once Newcestown scored their first goal they managed to stay ahead for the rest of the game. When they scored their second goal it put them ahead by 8 points 1 – 12 to 2 – 17 but our boys never gave up and when Eoin Couglan scored our second goal it put us within 4 points of them. Fionn Coleman and Eoin O'Farrell traded points with Newcestown for the last 4 scores to end the game at Rockies 2 – 14, Newcestown 2 – 19.
