Blackrock 0 – 10 V Newcestown 1 – 14 @ Church Road.

Our Intermediate Hurlers were beaten by Newcestown in their league clash at Church Road on Sunday morning. Despite playing with the wind in the first half, we only managed to score 7 points to lead by 1 at half time when the score read, Rockies 0 – 07, Newcestown 0 – 06. James Walsh with 2 points and Ryan Sweeney and Eoin O'Farrell with 1 point each had us leading by 4 points to nil in the early stages but Newcestown had it back to level terms as half time approached at 0 – 06 each. Richie Laide sent over a late point to send us in for the break with a slender lead of 1 point.

Newcestown soon equalised after the break and then scored the only goal of the game to gain a lead which they never relinquished and even added to it as the game progressed. We did come within 2 points of them with about 10 minutes to go, but Newcestown finished with a flourish and with 5 points on the trot ran out easy winners by 7 points ---1 – 14 to 0 – 10. We only managed to add 3 points to our total, 2 from Eoin O'Farrell and 1 from Diarmuid Cormack.
